Glowing Golf Ball Ammo

by aturner

I bought a cheap package of glow sticks off ebay, which cost me about $14 for 100 of these thin flexible glow sticks. Drilled holes in golfballs, pushed in the glow sticks, and here's the outcome...

...with one glow stick...

...with three glow sticks...

..and glowing down in the barrel...

as an added bonus, these glow sticks seems to stabilize the golf ball very well, so the flight path is more predictable than plain GB's. I highly recommend this ammo for nighttime fun because these are probably the cheapest and most easily obtainable glow sticks (on ebay), plus old golf balls are cheap, plus this ammo is extremely easy to assemble.

A few additional assembly tips: I started with smaller drill bits, and gradually worked my way up to larger bits, until the hole was just barely large enough for the glow stick. This meant that friction could hold the glow sticks in place, and I didn't need to use any type of glue or tape. If your drill has variable speeds, use a low speed to drill the holes in the golf balls, because at high speeds the drill bit will tend to bounce around on the surface due to the dimples on the GB. I was able to use a hand held drill, but a drill press would be perfect for this.
